Three Important Questions

Estate planning is often left on the back burner because it is not an easy topic to consider or discuss. This page is intended to ease you into the process so you are one step closer to completing this important personal project.

To get the ball rolling, please consider these three important questions. You do not need to finalize your decisions at this stage; this is merely to get you thinking about the issues you will need to consider as part of this process.

  1. If you have children under the age of 18, who would raise them in your absence?

    You will need to consider your first choice individual or couple as well as a back-up. For people with minor children, this is really the paramount question.

  2. Who will speak for you if you cannot speak for yourself?

    You need to fill two roles, and you do not need to name the same person for both positions. You need to name one person for medical decisions and one person for financial decisions.

  3. Where do you want your stuff to go when you pass away?

    Often people think of their family members, friends, or charitable organizations. You can also direct things to all three!

Putting a plan in place spares your loved ones the hassle, time, and expense required to probate your estate.

After our initial conversation, you will be provided with a questionnaire which expands on these issues.

You do not need to know which documents you need before your initial meeting. That is what I am here to help with!
